What We Store

When you use Ivory Journal, we store:

• Your email address (used for authentication)
• Your journal entries and their metadata (titles, dates, content)
• Usage data necessary for the service to function (session information, preferences)

All journal content is stored securely in our database and is only accessible to you when signed in.

How You Access Your Account

Ivory Journal offers two authentication methods:

• Magic Link: We send a secure, time-limited sign-in link to your email address. No password required.
• Email & Password: Traditional credentials-based authentication (available in some environments).

We use industry-standard authentication practices powered by NextAuth.js. Magic links expire after use and are single-use only.

Data Retention

Your journal entries remain in your account until you choose to delete them. You can delete individual entries at any time from within the app.

If you delete your account, all associated data—including your journal entries and email address—will be permanently removed from our systems.

Who Can Access Your Data

Your journal entries are private by default:

• Only you can read your journal entries when signed in
• We do not sell, share, or analyze your journal content for marketing purposes
• There are no social features, public profiles, or sharing mechanisms

Our team may access your data only when absolutely necessary for technical support, security investigations, or legal compliance. Such access is logged and audited.

Third-Party Services

Ivory Journal uses trusted third-party services to operate:

• Email delivery: For sending magic links and account notifications
• Hosting infrastructure: For secure, reliable application hosting

We carefully select service providers who meet high security and privacy standards.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data at any time by signing in
• Delete your entries or entire account
• Request a copy of your data
• Ask questions about how we handle your information
